This website is devoted to my mom, Shirley Emery. She suffered the devastating effects of Primary Muscular Atrophy, a variant of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and lost her life on May 11, 2007.

This disease steadily took away her independance and control. She was diagnosed with this disease on May 12, 2006 after about 6 months of coordination issues, fallen arches and finally a fall resulting in a broken hip. She followed in the footsteps of her mother who died over 20 years ago with the same dreaded disease.

Why build a website? I'm considering that knowledge will help others deal with this rare and incurable disease. Those of us who are involved personally with ALS search for facts and experience to validate our fears and gain more knowledge.

I will be filling this website with information about her journey and reference material that others may find helpful while going down the same path.

I believe that together we can find a successful treatment and cure.
